Friday fact: it's nice when celebrities spend quality time with fans who are also kids with cancer

One celebrity in particular, who is part of a duo.

It's hard to escape them, they're in the news so much these days.

Football star Travis Kelce and megasinger Taylor Swift.

So it probably shouldn't be surprising that one or both of them might be seen participating in a camera shoot, smiling, spending time to make it a fun afternoon for one of his/her fans, who also happens to be a child with cancer.

It's sad if the occasion is just for publicity, an attempt on the part of the celebrity to curry favor with their fans who watch the video, led to believe that the celebrity is kind, and eager to make the day of an adoring young fan with cancer.

But how nice if the occasion is for real, and the celebrity is genuinely pleased and happy to be uplifting the spirits of such a young fan, simply by being with the young person for a while.

This link is about a young girl with leukemia, now a young teen in remission, who several years ago spent an afternoon enjoying the company of football-star-Taylor-Swift-companion Travis Kelce, and who reports that she was made very happy by the encounter:

From the way she describes it, one feels that Kelce was genuinely happy to do it, and was pleased that his time with her may have been a genuinely positive experience for her.

Perhaps he really is that kind of person.

Again, we don't know the motivation of everyone who takes part in doing charity work for cancer, including spending time with young fans dealing with the disease, whether it's just for the publicity, or whether their hearts are really into it.

But as long as someone in need benefits from their idol's attention, then that's a good thing.

I'm willing to give the celebs the benefit of a doubt, and believe they're for real, most of the time, when they are seen smiling, and so upbeat and happy, to be spending quality time with a kid with cancer in a wheelchair.

More power to them if they are sincere.

Let's give him credit for doing a lot of good over many years. He made the largest individual donation in history to them last year ($10 million). I don't worry about his motivation.
