Ron, welcome to the Forum. It is customary for everyone to have a signature explaining their disease status which helps other members to provide relevant and valuable information. Take a look at mine to give you an idea of a typical signature. Allow me to ask a series of questions that may help Forum members to be of assistance.
Regarding your Provenge question, what is your disease status? What information is your urologist or medical oncologist providing you regarding Provenge? They would be the ones ordering and providing it. As you are in the Kaiser network, you would probably be using network doctors that have the information you are asking us to provide. While Provenge can be a very effective treatment for some men, it is only indicated and approved for a relatively narrow group of advanced stage patients. Have you determined whether it would be indicated for you?
I just did a search of providers of Provenge in San Diego and found several, including Genesis Prostate Cancer Center and Presbyterian Prostate Cancer Center, but not under the Kaiser banner. It may be that Kaiser doesn’t have a physical location to do the extractions and infusions so they would contract with a non-affiliated center that does. I understand they do that here in Atlanta. Again, that should be simple to find out by contacting your Kaiser representatives.
