This is an incredibly nasty turn and I hope you, your wife, and family will stay strong and as positive as possible. There are many good things about radiation. We think we choose one treatment and that's going to be it - which will not be the case for all of us. And it isn't fair. We didn't take the news of our pathology report well at all and we know it will take a great deal of emotional strength for you to gear up for the next round. All of us will be hanging in there with you.

Please try one thing. A Resident of my DR. has developed a supplement that only has the ingredients that medically are proven to help keep & return the prostate to good health.  I was in this week & he informed me that he is getting excellent results in patients that have not had, those that have had radiation & those that have had chemo.  Said that all are getting a reduction is their PSA reading.  I can testify to great readings 7mo. postop from my DiVinci procedure.  My PSA preop was 6.58 with all 10 biopsies positive.  The website is theralogix.com.  The one he recommends is Prostate 2.2. I have been taking it everyday for six months.  My last PSA one week ago was .003. He can hardly believe the results.

I am back to work and doing well, still having some leakeage, when I lift patients and sometimes at night, depends if I drink alot of fluids. Seem to be going to bathroom alot not sure if i do it on purpose so i don't have a accident because i just go a little. See Dr A on 28th nov for my 8 week post op visit. no pain getting strength back and starting to feel better. John I hope you are doing better. I still want to meet for our coffee and donought sometime when you are up to it. keep me up to date

Back on the road agian! Glad to hear it.

As you lift do what all us women who have had children do....kegel and lift in the same motion. And yes, that shorter urethra means the urge to go is more frequent but it should get better in time.

As far as the surgery goes recovery has been wonderful, I am almost back to the place I was before surgery. Some tenderness in belly, a little leakage when I move gas or sneeze, but all in all it has been just as described by Dr. A. I haven't had much interest in sex recently but think it might be possible down the road. In light of everything else my wife and I have had to worry about it really matters little but I guess it depends on what road we take next as far as how soon. I hear radiation, chemo, and hormone therapies all take their toll on that desire and ability too. Just remember to be careful on lifting, those belly muscles have all been pushed around and "innards" have been removed, cut, stitched and such. Full healing takes months or years, not weeks. We will do that coffee and doughnut thing in a few days... I'll e-mail you soon and we'll try to set a date.

Swinon have you had a chance to read my John ~ strength in numbers thread... any ideas on the path I should look at. You seem to have a handle on all the news and details of the things others are trying.

It entirely depends on what story your PSA tells now and in the future John. Ask about intermittent hormone blockade. That is one possible choice perhaps.

Your scans were negative which means so far no mets are detectable. There are some centers trying a wham bam with chemo and CHB for shorter amounts of time before mets appear. I've talked to one lady whose SO is going through it now but have no idea what the results are yet. You and the Doc's have much to discuss. I'm keeping a prayer line open

As I just put in a long post on John ~ Strength in Numbers thread the hormone therapy route is where we're going. Put those "puppies" to sleep and try to kill them with pomegranate juice.....hahaha. Sounds good to me.... I think I'm getting addicted to the stuff. The doctor we met today was wonderful.

My sister sent me some info on AHCC supplement have you heard anything about it? I guess some clinical studies are about to test it.
