Curtis was in surgery from 1:45 to and we got to see him in recovery at 6:15 since Lee was going to have to fly home and there was no one else in recovery at the time.  Doctor said everything looked great and there was no cancer in the bladder neck...still have to wait to see what it says about the prostate, but think that will be fine too.

I'm so relieved to have it over and I can't wait to see him tomorrow when he knows I'm there.

Thank goodness! Get some rest so you can get C home! He and Paul had surgery at the same time of day. Maybe that'll be a good luck sign!

Hopefully very good luck...I'm going to try to get to the hospital early in the morning so I can get to see the doctor on his rounds.  Not sure if Curtis will be able to come home tomorrow or not.

What a relief Wicket!

We were keeping you in our thoughts and are so glad to hear everything went so well.  Everything should get a little bit better everyday from here on out.  Enjoy the time you have together while your husband is recuperating.  After a few days, we starting walking a lot and learned we really enjoyed that time together.  I miss it now that Gordons gone back to work but we still go for a little stroll in the evenings.

Hi Ellen & Curtis,

Finally the surgery is done; now let the healing begin! I'm am relieved to hear that all went well, and according to the plan. Ellen make sure you take time to EAT, and get what ever rest you can. You need to keep your strength up so that you won't get sick. G-whizz; I'm sounding like my parents.

Dearest Wicket I got the biggest smile on my face when I saw your posting…..        Yeah!!!!!!!   Wicket & Curtis…. Another stepping-stone behind you!!   Let the catheter be your friend…   Healing is taking place now ~ so tell Curtis to take the time to let it ~ do its job.   And before you know it you will be on the next stepping-stone      Our thoughts and prayers remain with you both. Curtis is still in the hospital...I hated leaving him there tonight, but he's just to dizzy.  He's supposed to watch his salt intake because it can cause him to get dizzy..well that go-litely was mostly salt water and he's paying for it now.  I hope he'll be able to come home tomorrow.

He says he has no pain and the cathater isn't bothering him, but then he hasn't had it in for very long yet.

wishing you Curtis, yes both of you, a speed recovery. You need to recover as much as he does. It's not going to be relaxing, believe me. Get sometime on your own, even just to go to the grocery store. It helps a lot. He'll sleep a lot for some time and than.....yes, than he'll drive you "crazy" or you'll do it to youself again, just like before the surgery.
Let us know how you are both progressing. Believe me, these little anti-anxity pills still do their work if necessary. They are helping me now again and I am away at work all day.

Well guess I'm going to have to keep him busy...if for no other reason to keep him out of trouble...trouble meaing doing more than he should be doing.  I guess you're lucky to be gone during the day so he can't drive you nuts until you get home at least.  LOL 

Guess you have to do your walking on weekends.

Curtis has been walking all around the halls this evening so he can come home tomorrow.

Sorry Curtis has to stay another night, he'll be home soon though.  In the meantime, I have to echo SL's words has far as getting your own rest too, especially now why you can.  Rest assured knowing he is being well taken care of now while in the hospital.

It's great to see you two on "this" side of it all. Get him home (today) and get comfortable. Keep an eye on that catheter and don't let it back up - it'll make the bladder ache as a warning. You have the routine memorized by now.

You'll see great improvement with each day. Congratulations for getting through this part!

Hi All,

Well Curtis is home...can't get him to sit down though...keeps changing places...I get him all set up on the couch...I leave the room and come back to find him up roaming around..get him down for a nap and cover him up...then 2 minutes later I find him standing in the doorway of the office where I am...I can't win!!!  LOL  He's changed clothes at least 3 times trying to find something comfortable and finally did so I hope he takes a nap soon cause I'd like one too!!

Did anyone have the runs after they first started on solid food again...Curtis did and I was wondering if it had happened to anyone else.  I don't remember it being mentioned in here.  He went without solid food for 3 days then this morning had a regular breakfast then lunch then just before we were to leave he had the runs.

Leave Curtis alone...LOL! If he wants to walk around, God bless him! The guy's been in bed for 3 days pretty much. He needs to walk so encourage it as long as it isn't in place of normal rest. He's an up and at em kinda guy!
A lot of men are walking a mile or so on the 3rd day post-op so don't worry.
He'll rest when he's tired. Glad he's home.

Ellen, yeah, you two are home! isn't it just so much more comfortable than being at the hospital? hey, if Curtis won't take a nap, you take one anyway. :) Jeff had the opposite problem - he was constipated - even with taking the stool softeners twice a day and eating prunes and greens. but once he got things moving, it was OK.

Dear Wicket,   I got the giggles….. go!!! Swimom J   LOL   She’s right Wicket ~ let him do what he needs to do!   He will definitely wear himself out and then he may sleep even better.   He probably thinks he’s missing something… and when you go lie down he’ll follow.   (wishful thinking J )   The walking will help to get the gases out too!!! So let him walk!   I am so thankful you are both home…   Get through the time with the catheter…. And then things will really start to move quickly.   We dealt with the constipation issue and once we got that cleared away we were clear sailing….   His body may be reacting differently with the medications, anesthesia, etc…. Monitor it closely and do not hesitate to call the doctors office.   They always have a doctor on call and will call you back immediately.   Even if it’s at 2 in the a.m.   You have enough to deal with without extra concerns.   Buddy just walked by and said…. You’ve traveled with them on their journey from the beginning…. And it brought “happy” tears to my eyes to know that you have completed the hardest part of the journey….    There are still stepping-stones ahead but they are more defined now for you and you can see them more clearly than before.   J   My thoughts are with you… Take care and Hugs to you both. Hi Wicket,

We're also glad your home and all went well.  It's just so much more comfortable at home. As far as having the runs, Gordon was like that too.  Rice, yogurt and cheese did the trick for him.  Not to much though or you'll go the other way!

Hi Everyone,

Well everything turned out well today...Curtis had the catheter out and is now squeezing like mad to hold "it"...and not doing to bad...His problem is catching it when it first starts then he can hold it.  Anyway pathology report came back clean which was a relief and his first PSA will be in 3 months.  Ah another hurdle past!!!

Thanks to everyone for all the help and support thru this trying time!!
