Hi all, glad i found this forum to, great to talk with so many nice people, took a bit of weight off my mind, still worried but with all your advice and replies making a bit easier. Have a business partner who assures me he can cope and tells me not to worry about anything , just get myself sorted out. Clients we work for have also been great and understanding, all assure me works still going to be there when i get back. Cant see myself sitting around for 3 months it will send me mad, looks like i will be wandering round the jobs driving the lads mad, even so rome wasnt built in a day must learn to take it easy. Well im pleased to see that you good people out there all seem to be doing excellent with your recoveries keep up the good work, ill be joining you all soon, hope mine all goes well. Seeing surgeon tomorrow, have a few more questions to ask, im going to ask him if we do this davinci procedure over here, trying to lose a few pounds and going on some long walks to get reasonably fit for the op.
Thats all for now, will be back on soon. Keep up the good work and keep getting better.

Hey Mike, where in Jolly Old do you live? about 30 years ago (how can that be?!) I flew for Saudi Arabian Airlines and we went to England frequently.  I am here to tell you that it was like going home to Mother.  I was in England on 9-11 and people were kind to me.  I shed a tear as I write this.  My parents met us there once and they met a Brit couple they kept in touch with for a few years. Great memories.  Best to you.

hi Mike,

I saw your other post at another thread. when do you have surgery? why do you have to be out of work for 3 months? remember to do those Kegels too. kat

Hi kat & Jeff, hope alls going ok for you both and you are well, ops going to be done on 8 december, went to see surgeon last wednesday and he ran through whats going to happen on the day, he also said that we could also do what they call " watchful waiting " for a while to see if it gets any worse or stays dormant if we wanted, my wife elaine and i have already discussed the situation in great depth between ourselves and all our family and friends and the only answer we have come up with is to get it out as quickly as possible, worry about side effects when they arise or in this case not arise ( pardon the pun but youve got to laugh about it ) so this is what we told him we had decided, apparently because of my age ( 48 ) they are obliged to give me the op within 31 days of me requesting it ( thats a first with our national health service ) i cant complain about it though as they have looked after me very well over the past few years ( severe asthmatic ) and of course fortunately for us the treatment is all free, turns out that the same surgeon would do operation if we paid for it privately, feel very fotunate that we dont have to pay.
Well thats about it for now im sure we are going to have plenty to talk about in the near future so please keep in touch. and be well.

Wish we could get treatment within a respectable time period just for the asking!

Mike, you and my hub (Paul) are/were both 48 at diagnosis and you're right; the only thing young guys can be certain of is ya'll will live long enough for untreated cancer to kill you no matter how slowly it grows. Unless a bus runs ya over instead! Stay well and stay safe....we'd love to keep hearing from you!

Hi Swim, nice to hear from you, been reading your threads all over the place, you seem to be well respected on here, hope paul is ok, a few weeks to go for op, still a bit worried but getting a lot of support from you good people out there, seem im the only brit on the forum, will have to spread word when im in hospital, its helped me a lot so im sure it will help plenty of others. Discussed my options with friends/ family and all have said get it out of me asap not 1 person has said not to have surgery, as you said age in this case is against us so the quicker we move the better. Trying to get fitter for op already lost 1/2 stone in just over a week, eating right and plenty of exercise 3 to 4 miles walking daily.
Anyway thanks for replying, please keep in touch, will keep you up to date as it happens.

We're the same age, so I'm interested in your surgery and progress. I didn't notice which operation you will have...open or daVinci?
