Hi all,
It is amazing what we will share with each other since our journies began. It has been a little over 3 months since surgery. My last hurtle is the obtaining an erection. I have been taking Cialis and it help with lengthening at times but nothing close to an erection. Taking Buddy's advice I went for the injections at my 3 month check up. I had the option of trying the pump as well but I am wanting to be aggressive. I remember reading all the information about impotence post surgery and clearly saying I do not want to deal with any of this especially when talking about pumps and injections. Well, we all have to face our fears of prostate cancer and choose what we feel the best course to take. Now after 3 months of not making love with my wife I am willing to try anything. Interesting how your outlook on things can change.
The concept of jabbing a needle into the shaft of your penis is....well....just....not natural! The actual pain is very little, thank God. The PA, Jeff, first taught me how and where, and then he gave my first injection at the office of only 0.1 ml of medicine. I obtained about a 50% erection which was very encouraging. The next time I gave myself the injection under his supervision of 0.2 ml. I had I would guess an 80% erection. Unfortunately, I could not get together with my wife until after an hour or so and by the time we tried, it was not good enough for penetration. Finally, I used just a little more, around 0.23 ml a week later and acheived a 100% erection. Yahoo! He rises again. We were able to get the job done! According to the PA this is a temporary solution and in time I should obtain my own erections like before. I hope so.
I must admit it did ache quite a bit, but the little guy (I have to say that now I am post surgery ) is out of practice. So men, it will take time for most of us after surgery, but I would look into injections for a sure way for success. Those of you who have waited over 3 months and longer, maybe check it out. Best of luck!
Michael
