Soccerdad, I just knew that you were given Caverject. That is a very common reaction. You may want to call the Drs office and let him know that you ache was real bad and you would like to consider Bimix. That must be ordered from a compound pharmacy and you my have one near you. The reason I mention this is if you have to order it will take a few days and then you will probably need to have you frist injection in the Dr.s office.

everyone reacts differently and you should seek the advice of your surgeon and/or urologist on when to start the ED pills for purposes of getting thisngs back on track.

In my case, I started the pills one month after surgery and had immediate effects. Not so many months later I no longer needed the pills for all intensive purposes. Doesn't mean I don't still enjoy taking them from time to time.

Important questions to ask yourself in order to help predict your future are whether nerves were sparred and whether sexual function was healthy prior to surgery.

Progress typically takes up to two years for many. Even those that have immediate use of it find that a lot of things connected to its use improve/change over this two year period. You will also find that the initial months require a very mechanical process. It's like a motor that stalls if not constantly "helped".

Good luck, but I suggest you go speak to your urologist about an actual plan. Your surgeon should have included this as part of his services, surprised he hasn't.

I'm new here. I had my prostate removed 9/22/2011. Incontinence was dealt with in about two months. My ED problems are not working out as well. I was 50 when diagnosed with prostate cancer and had the surgery a few months later. I have stronger orgasms since surgery but I don't get erections often. After reading messages in this community, I think I'll try a pump next. I'll leave injections for last. Thanks for all the posts. I feel a little better, knowing I am not the only one going through this. My surgery was horrible..I was in surgery 11 hours and in recover 3 1/2 hours. I had complications from an appendectomy five years earlier with scar tissue being the biggest problem. My fiancee and I are frustrated with our almost nonexistent sex life and want to improve this. Thanks for all those who have posted, for being so courageous to do so.

Thedon, did you have nerve sparing surgery? How has this affected your relationship with your wife? How long you married? Welcome aboard healingwell. It's been about a year and a half for me and my girlfriend and I have had sex a few times in the past month or so. My surgery took over 11 hours and my recovery time was 3 1/2 hours. There were complications from a previous appendectomy five years earlier. I leak occasionally...think it's called stress incontinence. Write back when you can.

Hello everyone my name is Nancy and my boyfriend had DeVincie robotics surgery Dec. 11 2013. The surgery was a great success with both bundles of nerves spared. I can't remember all the details of his biopsy last Nov. but the cancer was confined to the prostate. I have been with this guy for less than 2 yrs when he had his surgery. He is 53 and we had a very active sex life pior to surgery. He had a lot of pain post op he used a cushion to set on for a long time. Feb 11 will be 8 weeks. We tried nothing until about 3 weeks ago. He was at that time able to have a very partial erection but he was able to have an orgasm which he described as very different. It seems at this time that the hardness of his penis is more towards the base than towards the tip , if I may be so descript. Things are improving slowly and both of us are well aware of the long recovery road we are on. I'm super supportive of him .Each time we get together it is different. He has been able to have orgasms each time but is unable to have intercourse,you never know what to expect. He has a pump but not a very good one and is on celias but his insurance want cover it which means he pays around $300 bucks for it, that is crazy !!!!! I care a lot for this man and will do what ever it takes to help. As he says we are in this together. I have learned so much by reading this blog and have passed along the info to him. He is so happy he is not alone in this process as am. I hope that each and every man out there has a support for that special someone.
Now that I have given a background I have a question. I know you can have urine leakage when you have a orgasm......it happened the other night and it was a lot. It was sticky though and it didn't seem to " feel " like urine. If the surgeon did not remove the seminal vessels could this have been semen? Being a nurse I have never seen sticky urine. I played it off as no big deal, which it wasn't, this is an emotional time for him and of course all guys who go through this.

Thanks so much for the drug info. I will pass it on. He has his first post op visit this week. I know he needs to stay on this type of med to keep the blood flow. He is also very interested in getting a better pump. We had looked at better ones earlier. I believe if he could use a better pump and a constriction ring he could keep a erection and be pleased.

I am 64 years old and had a robot assisted laproscopic radical prostatectomy on 2/13/15. My Gleason score was 3+4=7 but considered stage one by my Urologist. I am a borderline diabetic and have borderline hypertension. I was always very strong and lifted weights on and of most of my life. During an extended time away fro lifting I had a number of health issues which eventual brought me to a Dr. in 2010. That's when I discovered I had full blown diabetes 11.5 A1c. I went vegan for 4 months and lost 30 lbs. in 5 weeks. Cut my A1c in half and was exercising regularly but found my erections were often not hard enough for penetration. maybe from the diabetes but also from my blood pressure med lisinipril. Last June my PSA was climbing to 4.2 hen shot up to 6.4 my Dr. referred me to a urologist and he was not too concerned about the PSA but had me do another one. It rose slightly and he wanted me to have a biopsy. Had it on 12/23 and the results came back negative on one side but positive on the other with the score I mentioned. I'm leaking when i sit, rise, cough, sneeze etc. I am just barely back to my private teaching schedule. Using a couple of pads a day and a depends at night. It was really tough trading my loin cloth for a diaper. The first night after the cath came out I went the bed. right through the pad. It has been improving a bit almost everyday. On the 23rd I'm going in and the Urologist will get me going on Viagra. I am feeling some strings down there when I think about sex. I think this is encouraging. I'm looking forward to intimacy with my wife. I just hope the pathology report from the surgery is good. The urologists was very optimistic.

Thank you for the welcome. I'm going to feel a lot better when the pathology report comes back and clears me, my the Urologist that sometimes takes a while. Since I was already having erectile problems before the surgery, some things I read indicated it was not hopeful for me. But my experience in life is that everything can be improved no matter what is going on at the time. On that basis I posit there is no limit to progress.
