Came accross this treatment, and it seems to offer some excellent results over the permanent seeds.  Results are equal to surgery.  Just looking at all my options before surgery.

Any comments are welcome!

When researching for my treatment decision, I was kind of impressed with the thought of temporary seed implants (i.e., HDR). I came to the conclusion that HDR is not really very popular compared to brachytherapy (permanent seed implants). Apparently Andy Grove, the former CEO of Intel, had HDR treatments successfully over 10 years ago possibly in Seattle--that's what initially sparked my interest. I am personally opposed to brachytherapy. While many men have had great success with this treatment, there are many men who have lingering side effects, especially urinary problems. There is also the possibility that the seeds can escape to other parts of the body.

You must be comfortable with your decision.  I am pro-Brachytherapy because it was the best choice for us.  My husband has been fortunate, none of his seeds migrated and he has had very few, if any side effects from his treatment.  If you have any questions, ask away I'd be happy to fill you in on our Brachytherapy journey.

FYI, the information we received from the Brachytherapy specialist is that studies are showing a success rate near that of surgery with today's brachtherapy techniques.

I have made arrangement to fly out to the Cancer Treatment Center in Zion, Il. To get a second opinion and look at all my options!
