Blood in Urine... Any Advice?

Hi All,

I've developed some blood "spots" in my urine 2-3 times per day starting at 16 days out of surgery for radical prostatectomy.  It settled down yesterday (only once yesterday), but I noticed it again twice this morning.

I called the doctor office on Friday and talked to one of my doc's nurses.  She said that since my urine is not pink and there are only spots, one per stream sometimes, that she is not so worried about it and would ask the doctor.   She called this "streaking" and was similar to what I had in the hospital. She said she would call back if there was a concern and did not call back.

Has anyone else had the same experience?  Any advice?

Perhaps I should take it easy for awhile.

I don't think it is an emergency situation and I can call again tomorrow.

I continued to see little spots from time to time for about three weeks. I also called the nurse. She said that the interior suture sites take a while to heal and occasionally will leak a little blood before they "scab" over completely. That's probably what you're seeing.

I had blood in the urine 4 months after surgery, It was more than a streak quite a bit as a matter of fact. Diana called the Doc and he had me come in for an exam since it went on for about a week. It stopped and the Doc felt it was just I had lifted something to heavy or had overdone it. Keep an eye on it and if it continues call the doc back and have them check you out.

Good advice.

 

I'll keep an eye on it and call the doc's office again if it continues to be an everyday thing. 

 

Otherwise, I’ll assume it is “normal.”
