One Year Checkup

I am a VA patient and went for my one year check up but the Doctor was not in so they just drew blood for the PSA test.  All my past test have came back .01 and if this remains the same this time I was wondering if one year is any kind of bench mark.  I have been told several differant time frames - 5 years, 10 years, etc.  As I mentioned I was going to ask the doctor but he was a no show.  Thanks.

Wow, a Gleason 8 and one year of negatives under your belt already!! How wonderful is that? Kiss that surgeon!
Unfortuantely, having a high Gleason bought you PSA's at shorter intervals for oh....years to come....sorry.

So, what does it mean to have a year gone by? The longer a man goes without a rising PSA the more likely he is to be free from recurrence. The further you get, even if there were a rise, it would be most likely a localized recurrence. Keep up those negatives!!! Lets shoot for forever:>)
