11 weeks post-op - NO MORE PADS

yeah I just wanted everyone to know that after 11 weeks I have decided to stop using the pads! This is day 4 since removal, and I seem to be continent. 2nd day at work.

I know for some it has been no big deal. For others it has been a continual fight. For me, I can only hope and pray that this part of the process is over.

Thanks for all this group does!

Hey, congratulations!! I also went without pads for the first time at 11 weeks. For some reason about three weeks later I began leaking again but only a small amount. I went back to wearing a pad but one pad would have probably lasted several days if I had not been changing it daily. After about four weeks of that I became totally dry and do not leak at all even when lifting something heavy.

Congratulations, RipandBurn. Pad free is a big deal, and cause for celebration. It's a sign that although we've been changed forever, we're now slowly getting back to a more normal life that existed before our world was turned around.

Rip - great news! it's another stepping stone that you've crossed. don't worry if you have any dribbles - and you probably won't! continue with the great recovery....kat

Rip - Even if you just wear pads 2 days it's 2 days too long. Congrats on losing the pad!

Well, my understanding is that my surgeon has had better luck with less leaking when it is installed during prostate removal. It is a piece of pig intestine that goes around the bladder and urethra and is attached to the pelvis to support the bladder. He has been doing it with all of his patients for the last 8 months or so.

I can say that it took me 11 weeks to be pad free, but I have never had a bad problem with leaking. I have never had more than a drip or a squirt. I guess it has helped.
