I'm still set for Tuesday Morning, but we got moved up from 12:30 to 0730. first show of the day! This works out better as I'm not to eat after breakfast on Monday morning anyway! Thanks to everyone on this forum for great advice and sharing your own experiences. We have two days approced by Anthem, but as we are HMO expect the drive by surgery to let us out in 24 hours!

The earlier the better, beachbum. I was the first surgery of the day too. Another advantage to being first is that your surgery won't be delayed due to complications that might develop in a surgery before yours. Good luck. I'm with you in spirit!

Will have you in my thoughts on Tuesday. First operation of the day is best! As far as length of stay - I was in the hospital a grand total of 24 hours and 10 minutes...See you on the "other side!"

Hi beachbum. The sooner the better. I was moved up a week with my Dr. First batter in the box. Think positive and everything will be ok. Let us know how you do when you get to the other side. Thinking and praying for your speedy recovery.

Being the first one of the day is good as it gets you into a room early and out the next day. My surgery was originally scheduled for 11:00 AM being the second one of the day. I got a call at 3:00 PM the day before telling me that the 8:00 AM guy had cardiac issues and his surgery was cancelled and I was being moved up. I had to drive about 2 hours to the hospital and was told to check in at 7:00 AM so it was a long day.

Lucky to get the first one of the day. I was scheduled for 1PM and got out around 6PM. Five hours of surgery, so I was not in my room till around 7 PM. Needless to say it was a long day and night before due to no food. Then jello for all three meals the next 2 days. I was glad to leave and get home to something decent to eat. All in all it wasn't as bad as I would like to tell it. Keep the faith and stay positive. Uncle Dan

Other side! Well they told me I would feel like i had done 10,000 crunches, they were right! I was in the room for four hours, prostate was 30 grams, looked good. I am 6"2 290, and they said i really was swolen after 4 hours at a 45 degree angle. Got home yesterday, trying to do everything they told me. mr hang is tolorable, but have a very slight fever tonight (100.7) have not had pain meds for 12 hours, may take some to help sleep. I will write more when I can set at this desktop more comfotably. Thanks to everyone for keeping me in your prayers.

Hey B B !
Welcome to the other side!! Glad everything went well, and you're not in too much pain. You'll get more used to Mr. Hang in a few days, but will be glad to get rid of him when the time comes! I took a vicodin to help me sleep, but all it did was provide me with nighttime entertainment via some really weird (but not scary) dreams. Take it real easy, even if you feel like you can do more. I overdid a bit and paid the price. Keep a pillow on your lap handy in case you cough or sneeze!

Hello everyone. Today has gone much smoother, I was able to climb upstairs again to shave and have my first shower, and had a look in the mirror! Oh My, I'll never be a Sports Ilistrated model. I have stretch marks that are unbelieveable, and a bruise around the navel incision the size of a deseart plate! Walked outside to enjoy our first fall weather, but trying just to take it slow. My desire to eat is very low, but I just have not wanted to really eat much yet. Fever has gone! Alma said my color is back to normal, so I guess we are moving very well in a new direction. Mr. Hank comes out next Tuesday..maybe I should save a pain pill for it? To add to this weeks excitment, our Golden Retreiver will be having pups sometime this weekend! tongue yeah BeachBum

Glad to hear things went well! My only advice is to take it easy. Even though I felt really good and tried to jump back into my normal routine, I found that I was really exhausted for the first 3+ weeks. Take it slow and treat the next few weeks like a well-deserved vacation!

  Yea! Beachbum & Alma, Welcome home!!!! It truly is good to hear from you!  Take one day at a time and "listen to your body"... it will tell you so much if you just listen.. Glad the fever is gone...and you're moving around nicely.  Take the proper time to heal/recover... and you will do just fine on the rest of your journey...  Thanks for staying close. Hi Beach bum. Glad you are doing well. Just take it easy you deserve a good rest. Soon Mr hang will be a distant memory, but it is necessary for the healing to take place. After he is gone get up and walk some but don't overdo it. Let us know how you are doing.
