So if they are not worried about a PSA of 1-5 when you have a prostrate why is .1-.2 such an issue

If you don't have a prostate then you should not have a PSA. A rising PSA at any level is cause for concern. If you still have a prostate a PSA rising from 1.3 to 2.5 is an issue and should be treated. Unfortunately for us post kids. We need zeros.

Not being worried about a PSA between 1 and 5 is not a safe reaction. On this forum men with PSAs of less then 2.0 have ended up with PCa while men with PSAs above 10 have not. It is not just the absolute number that is important but what the trend is along with the results of a DRE. If there is history of PCa in the family then it is recommended that the PSA be tracked starting at 40. I have suggested to my male friends to request a baseline PSA earlier then 40. There is a trend that for men diagnosed young (before 50) the PCa tends to be more aggressive. That is a good reason to be very conservative about your PSA and DRE at a young age.
