I am curious why those of you who use injections choose to do so.  I am assuming that the oral meds--viagra, cialis, levitra--are not effective.  Clear enough.

But what about pumps? Are they not an option for you?

Just curious, wondering whether injections are something I should be considering.

I tried all of the oral meds without notable success.  I then used the pump and oral meds and was able to achieve a usable erection, but the process is uncomfortable and distracting. It hurt to pump up the penis and I used a manual pump.  The idea of an electric pump motor seemed something out of my control. The erection is at best spongy and uncomfortable.

I tried Caverject and immediatly got an erection similar to pre surgery.  No rings, no pumping, just a shot and things were looking up. The thought of the injection is far worse than the real thing.  However it still takes some concentration.

I am still working to get things right. The Caverject is simple to use (premixed and contained inside the syringe) but at higher doses it can leave an aching pain.  If I must continue to use injections, I will be investigating the "mixes", which reports claim have fewer side effects.

Often times those of us who were not spared both nerves find that the usual ED drugs are ineffective. That's the case with us. We were not comfortable with even the thought of what was involved with a pump, so went directly to Trimix shots. Once overcoming the initial "fear" of sticking a needle "THERE", more shots than not are completely effective.

The only drawback with the shots is lack of "spontaniety" . . . it becomes very much a planned event. . . . also timing . . . . not something you do at a time of day where you will be having to go out directly afterward OR expecting company . . . .OR the kids dropping in to "see what's up" . . . . .

I tried the pump for a month and found that the rings caused a lot of discomfort, the erection while good enough for penetration was not firm and it was just too artificial. In my opinion the pin prick with the injection is a lot less discomfort then the pump. The erection is firm and responds to stimulation just like before my prostatectomy. It is about as close to a normal erection as you can get. If you are motivated enough to get past the fear of injecting your penis then you should give it a try. The pump was good for rehab and I still use it every now and then.
