Hi everyone! My dad has hit a few more bumps in the road. It seems that once PC cancer spreads....and you get rid of the spreads...it just keeps coming back in different places. Our doctor says it is a Whole body disease. We got rid of the three tumors between the kidneys this year with 7 months of chemo. Within 1 month...the cancer was already growing...PSA from 0.3 to 1.5. We then switched doctors and facilities and my dad was put on Casodex for the first time. It worked for ONE month-knocking his PSA down to 0.6. Now 3 months later, PSA is back to 4. The doctor thinks the Casodex is not working...we are trying it one more month. Also-he thinks now the cancer is growing in a bone in my dad's pelvic/butt area. There was a suspicious spot on the last scan. We get new PSA and a bone scan in 3 weeks.
My question-it was suggested that we possibly try 150mg Casodex..he is now currently on 50 mg...since he did have a response for one month. Anybody here taking the higher dose...and what are your side effects?
Also-didn't someone here go to Moffit in Tampa, Florida? If so-was it helpful and can you tell me a little about your experience. I am getting very worried. My dad is too...he has been very down lately and just feels drained. He has been so positive all along. I think he is just tired of trying when things don't work for long. Everything I read tells me it is all about "controlling" this cancer. I am desperate to find the right doctor/help...and I am running out of options to turn to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much-
Lisa
