My issue started w/ a gallbladder attack (pancreatitus caused by gb assumed). about
a week or two after the GB attack, I started feeling pain in my lower let abdomen - not very painful, I could just feel that it was sensitive to touch. Shortly thereafter, it progressively got a bit more painful to a point where I would cut my underwear where the lower adbdominal pain was. CT scan showed normal pancreas and swollen colon. Subsequent colonscopy showed healthy colon.
That progressed to pain up the side, and I'm assuming this was the small intestinal track on my left, to pain under my left ribcage. All very sensitive to the touch. Endoscopy showed no signs of celiac and overall healthy (mild antral gastritis).
That said, the pain still persists (8 weeks after initial symptoms) and seems to worsen throughout the day and makes it difficult to fall asleep at times. My bowel movements are pretty normal. 2+ a day and lessening diarrhea over the past week or so. I've read some of the celiac form posts and many have felt the ribcage pain that I'm referring to.
But what about the left and lower abdominal senstivity/pain? Have others experienced the same? What have you done to correct this pain? It seems to get as painful as, say, 6 out of 10, but never "side-splitting, bent over" painful. Just persistent and I'm not certain there's a direct correlation to what i'm eating causing the pain. It just seems to get progressively worse throughout the day. As a side note, all my bowel movements usually occur by noon and occasionally before bedtime. I'm wondering if this is more irritable bowel or some sort of allergic reaction.
I'm a couple of days into a gluten-free diet. My GI doc has suggested that I take colestid - but I'm not sure I want to take it. Anyone else take colestid and are now adbdominal-pain free?
Keep in mind that the abdominal pain only started AFTER my gallbladder attack...
