New to this site and trying to figure out some lovely health symptoms. I was seeing if anyone had symptoms like me with celiac. Does anyone have trouble breathing and or trouble exercising. I have trouble with any kind of exertion with my heart rate skyrocketing and trouble breathing. I also get your normal celiac symptoms as well. I never been formally tested just because they said I would have to eat gluten for two weeks. Any help is needed thank you.

Hi Rshriver, this forum has very little activity, I suggest you visit celiac.org, it's a very informative site. The only way you will know if you have celiac is to do the proper testing. If you decide to test, do not try to be gluten free as it will skew your test results.

Fatigue & shortness of breath could be something else, I would start with my pcp to get this checked out.

My son has celiac but went undiagnosed for many years - approx 14 years.
Because of celiac the gluten caused damage to his small intestines resulting in poor absorption of iron.
His ferritin was very low and he was losing hair and when he did any exercise he would get breathless

We also didn’t test with the biopsy due to the fact he’d have to eat gluten - and we had immediately taken him off gluten.

The deal was he would be gluten free for the rest of his life and he agreed because he didn’t want to have the scope to check his intestines

What you can do is two blood tests: one for gluten antibodies and also a ferritin test to see if he’s able to absorb ferritin from food.

Hello. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with celiac. It makes it difficult for me to work in daily life. Is celiac on the disability list? Will it allow me to retire early?

Hi Hakan, RShriver hasn't been here in 6 years. This is a very slow forum with little activity. Disability benefits would depend on the country a person is a resident of. If you are in the US you can go to SSA.gov & check to see if celiac is on the list. I know quite a few celiacs & none of them are on disability, they follow a gluten free diet & do well.
