Had nissen wrap 5 months ago and I have lost 18lbs.  Wasn't trying to lose weight but can't seem to stop.  Any ideas on how to keep from being the incredible shrinking woman?  Muzzy

Drink ensure they carry a high calorie variety.

what is nissen wrap. My endo says I have to loose 40lbs and it just isn't happening.

Muzzy, have you checked out our GERD forum? You may find better help there, as many of their members have had the wrap.

On the thyroid front, if you have symptoms of thyroid problems, see your doctor and ask for thyroid function tests. This is a battery of blood tests to check your thyroid functioning. Weight loss can be a symptom of hyperthyroidism, but there are usually other symptoms as well. Check our "Thyroid Basics" thread at the top of the page to see if you have any of these other signs.

jdrea, it's a surgery for people suffering from severe GERD.

It's not for weight loss although it is a side effect due to the strict diet of liquids only for four weeks, followed by soft foods, then normal foods.

It's involves remodeling of the upper part of the stomach. You don't want this surgery.
