Since I was still having hypothyroid symptoms while on the thyroid meds, I started searching for
answers. I saw a book advertised on Amazon, Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms? When My
Lab Tests are Normal by Datis Kharrazian. It gave me a new perspective on Hashimoto's and how
important it is to decrease the inflammation. Then I read Hope for Hashimoto's by Alexander
Haskell and it is excellent. Two other books that I recommend are Solved: The Riddle of Illness
by Stephen Langer and Stop the Thyroid Madness by Janie Bowthorpe.
They all recommend a gluten-free diet because there is a lot of research showing a relationship
between gluten and Hashimoto's. There are a bunch of other suggestions I can go into if you are
interested. You might want to check out their websites. There is so much good information:
http://hopeforhashimotos.com/ Dr. Haskell has a set of videos explaining Hashimoto's that
are excellent. He also talks about his plan, Phases 1, 2 and 3, for treating Hashimoto's which
I have decided to follow and see if it helps.
http://www.thyroidbook.com/ Datis Kharrazian gives a lot of good info in his blog, I especially
like the articles about gluten and its effect on thyroid medication, glutathione, and his autoimmune
hypothyroidism diet.
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ This website will tell you why the TSH lab is useless
and why treating hypothyroidism with synthetic T4 alone just doesn't work for a lot of people.
If you have any other questions, let me know. I'm happy to help. I really hope you can find some
answers and get some relief.
