The pituitary does regulate the function of all the endocrine glands, so I suppose it's possible. At any rate, it's good this has been discovered. I'd definitely follow up with the neurosurgeon, as any growing mass within the brain can put pressure on brain cells and cause both pain and damage.
Just a caution: you probably shouldn't expect a lot of bedside manner from a neurosurgeon, as they're not known for being nurturing. Maybe something about working inside people's brains does this. So you can likely expect the surgeon to be business like and brief. Go with your questions ready, and take someone with you to support you if you wish.
