As I said , symptoms show up much slower than TSH abnormality, and according to what you said , you don't have symptoms(symptoms you are aware of), and yes 8.xxx is a quit high tsh.
I would suggest this, continue with the 25 mcg/day, for few weeks and see how you feel, if you start to develop hyper symptoms such as palpitations and tightness of breath, ringing in the ears and tinnitus, blurred vision, racing heart and difficulty sleeping, then you can be sure you don't need this med, and the high tsh does not reflect your actual thyroid status .
