Hello. This is my first time in this forum and I'm here to ask about my mother's blood test results.
She hasn't been diagnosed with anything but has been seeing a dr every 6 months regarding her thyroid. They found a small lump about 2 years ago; hence, the office visits.
Last year when she had an ultrasound done, she had a high HTg (thyroglobulin tumor marker) - 150.3 ng/ml. The norm is under 33 ng/ml. Her FT3 was 2.3 pg/ml and her FT4 was 0.98 ng/dl, which were both within normal range. Her TSH was a bit elevated to 5.27 uIU/ml.
She went yesterday for her check-up (ultrasound and have blood work done). They found that the lump had gotten much smaller as compared to last year. However, her HTg had increased to 171.5 ng/ml and both her FT3 and FT4 were within normal range. Her TSH was a bit elevated to 12.30 uIU/ml. They told her that they'd worry about her elevated HTg had she had thyroid cancer and had already undergone surgery for it. Doctors tell her that it could be from the konbu she takes in daily and asked that she stop that until her next blood test and asked her to return in 3 months.
My mother has been depressed from this wondering if she has cancer. Also, she's not sure where her fatigue is coming from. I think part of her being tired just comes from age. She's in her early 70's. She also stressed out a lot so that could be it, too.
I don't have any thyroid-related issue so I really don't know much about her condition. From your experience, how does my mother's condition appear? Any comments are appreciated :)
