Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum (I usually post on the Crohns Forum). So I was diagnosed with Graves Disease 4 years ago when I was 15 I am 19 now. My levels were very high and I started on Methimazole. about 1 year later my levels dropped so much I went Hypothyroid, so they put me on Levothyroxine as well as continuing on the Methimazole. Both meds evened each other out and my levels went normal. Since then my thyroid would fluctuate a little high but my endo was not concerned because it always came back down. I went into remission about a year and a half ago, and my endo was ready to take me off all medicine in December. Well, for some reason my TSI decided to sky-rocket again out of nowhere. This was concerning to my Dr because I was still on the meds and I should be stable. She now wants to either take out my thyroid or use radioactive iodine because the methimazole has made my Bilirubin levels go high and it is dangerous to even stay on that medicine for more than 3 years. I am only 19 and I do not want to take medicine for the rest of my life and I just don't want to lose my Thyroid in general! Does anyone have any suggestions?? Whether there is a natural way to go about it or a special diet. I am willing to try anything in order to keep my Thyroid.
Thank you!
