Hi everyone,
I think I was over medicated and my dr suggested I drop my thyroid dose. I’ve been getting hot flashes and wonder if anyone can lend any insight?

Even men can get HF from new dose, just wait it out.
When trying to lower med dose, its more effective to not take any thyroid for one day, then resume your new lower dose after. Test would be 6 weeks after this.

Thanks so much!!! Strangely, the hot flashes only happen in the morning.

Hot flashes? I am not sure if we are communicating well or I am not understanding. Running hyperthyroid you can feel hot all the time. You can sweat excessively too. You can feel jittery, have muscle weakness and suffer from insomnia. A hot flash from hormone shifts due to perimenopause can last just seconds or a minute and rises from your chest (more like a “poof”). It can actually raise your body temperature (nurse caught mine at 101.4 degrees and within few minutes was back to 98.6). At least that is my personal experience and I am now post menpopausal and still have dozens of hot flares daily. Very different from the thyroid swings I had for one year which drove my doctor and me crazy.

Hello, thanks for your response. I’m not going through menopause or peri yet, as I am 33. I’ve had hot flashes when my thyroid was under and overactive. I haven’t taken my meds for 2 days while I await the results of my most recent blood test.

"A hot flash from hormone shifts due to perimenopause"
-Not always.
It can be from any hormone changes.
Even men with fluctuating thyroid hormones can get hot flashes, my endo sees this in some other male thyroidians as well. Maybe its more common with hashimoto autoimmune, I dont know.
