Hi! I just jumped over from the Ostomy Forum..I have a question that has been on my mind for awhile. I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid about
6 years ago and have been on the same dosage of Eltroxin since then. I find that I am tired lately...been gaining weight (with no changes in my diet) and feel just the same as I did back then when I was diagnosed. My problem is that I don't have a family physician (we just moved to new city and there are no Doctors available)...I was just wondering if anyone here has ever doubled their thyroid meds, and if so, did it help????.....Thanks so much!......Cheryl

I totally don't recommend tinkering with your thyroid medication without seeing a doctor. Being hyperthyroid is very unpleasant and can be dangerous. Also, overdosage of thyroid meds has been known to trigger new autoimmune issues.
If there's no doctor available, is there a walk-in clinic? You really do need to see someone to have your levels checked at least yearly anyway.

Thanks Judy. Yes there is a walk in clinic. I will go there and have it checked before I try this...thanks again.

You're more than welcome. And perhaps they can help you find a primary care physician.

Such sage advice Judy!
Even with a great Dr., they would not double your meds in one shot, rather raise you gradually.
