I have been reading on Thyroid conditions hoping maybe I could figure out my own diagnosis. I've been looking over past bloodwork. I have reports from 2006 to a couple months ago. First maybe someone can tell me how they ever decide for sure if a person has a thyroid problem when the numbers change so much at least on me they do.
Example 2006
TSH 1.09 .40 - 5.50
free t3 277 range 230 - 420
t-4 8.1 4.4 - 12.5
2006 a different doctor
TSH 3rd generation 1.37 range .46 - 4.68
Free t4 0.9 range 0.8 - 2.2
2009 TSH 2.30 didn't check anything else he said it doesn't matter about the other numbers as long as Tsh is there the body is getting what it needs. But this was a pretty good number I guess its more in the middle of the range.
2010 couple weeks ago saw dermatologist
TSh 3rd generation 1.38 .34- 5.60
t-4 5.5 range 6.1 - 12.2
t3 uptake 27 range 24 - 39
I dont understand the different number why some are free and some not why some doctors do one and not the other also is there an opinion on what kind of test is better. One lab seems to be using lower type range than the other labs checking t4 or maybe its different because it was checking free t4
I got this last test because my hair is really thinning. Its been thinning a couple years and I have been concerned but the front now is really bad and I am looking bald.
On this last blood test the ANA (1:1280) was also high so was sent to the rhumetologist she mentioned maybe I should get the thyroid checked a little more because it was out of range on the t4. But reading stuff online it seems this t4 is not so important it would be more important had it been the free t4. I have alot of different symptoms but am not sure which one is going with what illness. I have inner ear disease that wiped out my balance function so I feel crummy so much it causes me so many problems getting around I am not sure whats what. I also am almost 55 and not gone completely through menopause I have cycle every month although they come when they want and my emotions are always messed up. I was thinking that was maybe why I am loosing my hair. I also have perinious anemia problem getting enough b-12 and found out I can't absorb vitamin D as well started at 1000 now up to 3000 a day so hope I don't get cancer or osteroporosis from that if I don't already have osteo going for a bone scan next week. Sorry to go on just want to express myself would love to feel better. I just wonder if I should see a doctor for the t4 being in the lower range this last test.
