Recent blood test results.

I have been having a few health issues over the last year or so. I had some blood tests done the other week one of which was to check my thyroid function.

I have a family history of thyroid disorders and my mum has an overactive thyroid. I spoke with my doctor and he said that I had just scraped into the normal scale on the lower end and that he wants to monitor it. My question is should this be treated?

Although I am just in the normal scale I do feel I have a lot of the symptoms of underactive thyroid such as sudden weight gain, very fatigued and depressed. I also have a very low pulse but would not say I was fit at the moment is that a symptom?

The doctor also thinks I may have Ankylosis Spondylosis which can cause fatigue as well as other symptoms. I have been getting pain in my kidney are as well and this has been going on for 5 months now and I am yet to get a definite.

My mum feels I should be treated for underactive thyroid and that some doctors would treat you with thyroxin if you were either at the very top of the scale or at the bottom of the normal ranges. Any info would be most appreciated.

Some doctors will treat you.
Also, did they do an Anti thyroid Antibodies test? Because, if that is positive you should definetly be treated.
Are you seeing a rhuematologist?
ANA is only a small part of the autoimmune panel you should have.

Ask him to try you on a low dose of thyroid meds to see if your problems go away.

Was at my doctors today and he sent me for a blood test to check thyroid antibody which he says will give him a better idea of what is going on.
