I don't think it would hurt to get a full thyroid panel done sooner.
When you get thyroid testing done, ask for paper copies of the labs. Having the names of the labs, results, and ranges given for normal is tremendously useful.

No, I'm a liberal arts type and had to struggle for every A (and some Bs were a struggle too). I've just seen that it's very helpful to know how one's doctor interprets labs - by TSH alone? If the T3 and T4 hormones are within range, even if just barely, is that enough for a dr to say, see you in 6 months or might he want you tested sooner, like 2 or 3? Stuff like that.
