Where is the neck pain located. Pain in the back of your neck can be persistent and disabling, but is not a symptom of thyroid problems. It's most often caused by stress and tension - sort of like a "tension headache" but in your neck. I also find I'll have this problem if I'm not careful how I position my head and neck while on the computer. Generally OTC pain relievers and/or muscle relaxants will relieve this pain when paired with gentle exercises. Applying heat to the neck is also helpful.
Occasionally neck pain can be caused by other problems such as arthritis or injuries. If the problem persists, you should see your doctor.
