You are correct. A high TSH indicates hypothyroidism. TSH is thyroid stimulating hormone. It is secreted by your pituitary gland in order to regulate the hormone production by your thyroid. If the pituitary finds a low level of hormones, it kicks out more TSH to stimulate the thyroid.
You now should have T3, T4, free T4 and antibody tests to obtain a complete diagnosis.
