Just diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease (also recently diagnosed with Lupus & RA)

I visited with my new Endo. and he put me on LEVOTHYROXINE 0.05MG

My TSH was 9.720
T3
T4

Not sure what to expect.

Hi,
That is an adequate initial dose, you should reevaluate in six weeks.
When test for t3/4, be sure you test for free t3 and free t4 and not totals.
You should take your medication on an empty stomach, one hour before breakfast, also be sure to take it around the same time each day and the same dose each day; like 50 mcg each Sunday and so on.
Which brand name do you use? if you are on a generic levo, in my opinion, it would be a good idea to switch to brand name this early before you need to adjust the dose as a result of the change !

Thanks for your response Hypo. I will be going back to the Endo for reevaluation on 10/1/14 a week before that to the lab for more blood to see my levels. This Wed. I need to go back to my Rheumy for the Lupus and RA.

The medicine I started this morning for thyroid is called Levothryroxine 0.05MG (50MCG) Tab

I just looked up the name and it is a generic to this is what google informed me of:

GENERIC NAME: levothyroxine sodium. BRAND NAME: Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid, Unithroid, Tirosint, Levo-T. DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Levothyroxine is a synthetic (man-made) version of the principle thyroid hormone, thyroxine (T4) that is made and released by the thyroid gland.
