New to Levothyroxine & missed periods

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and need some advice. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's over 4 months ago. I've been taking Levothyroxine since 11/26/14. I had my period the first month, but since have not (missing 2 periods.. also 2 negative pregnancy blood tests). My bloodwork indicates the medicine is working, (from 10.5 - 5.1). Has anyone had missed periods when starting the medication?

With Levothyroxine you can have missed periods. You might have to take synthyroid not the generic brand Levothyroxine . You need to let your doctor know you are having side effects.

I'm long past periods, but I NEVER did well on synthetic thyroid support. Good old faithful Armour is my best friend for thyroid. If you can find an MD who prescribes desiccated thyroid, you COULD be much better off overall. All integrative and naturopaths work with desiccated thyroid hormone. J

I'm now taking Synthroid, but will highly consider Armour. I'm hearing a lot of good things about it and it's more natural. I've never wanted to be on a medication for the rest of my life, but it seems I have no choice. Armour seems the safest. Thank you!
