I've recently had thyroid labs and an ultrasound. Results are:
TSH 1.97 (range .47-4.68) This is up from 1.46 when I was tested 3 years ago.
Free T4 .90 (range .8-2.2)
Based on bloodwork my doctor said everything is fine.
I had an ultrasound last week. The results are:
The right thyroid lobe measures, 5.3 x 1.6 x 1.8 cm
The left thyroid lobe measures, 5.3 x 1.6 x 1.9 cm
The isthmus measures,2 mm
Right thyroid lobe has 1 dominant solid nodule;
1. Right interpolar region nodule is point 0.4 x 0.3 x 0.5 cm.
Left thyroid lobe has 1 dominant solid nodule;
1. Left lower pole nodule is 1.2 x 1.1 x 1 point cm
I am waiting for my doctor to interpret results and call me. Based on what I have read, the thyroid measurements indicate it is enlarged. What should I expect the next steps to be as far as tests that should be run, etc? I want to make sure I am doing everything that I need to. Not 100% sure of the trust level with my new doctor. My first visit didn't go great and I felt like she was trying to blow me off as symptoms being all in my head.
I've been dealing with strange symptoms that come and go over the past several years that include: joint pain, shooting pains in arms and legs, chest tightness and soreness, tingling in feet, hands, or tongue, heart palpitations, random twitching of muscles including eyes, head pressure, excessive joint cracking particularly in neck, and ringing in ears.
So far, no tests have gotten to the bottom of what is going on. I was placed on anti-anxiety meds (by another doctor who thought it was all in my head) but that did not do the trick to stop symptoms. I'm wondering if my thyroid is playing a part in any of this.
Thanks for any input!!
