Hello,
For the last 5 months I have had a pain in my throat. It feels muscular and it is dull pain all around the middle of my throat. The first dr I went to said it was acid reflux and put me on ppi's which made me very ill. I got off and did dietary changes and nothing changed. I went to another dr because i started having issues with singing. The did a video scope and said everything looked fine except how I was using my muscles. So they sent me to a speech pathologist who I have been working with. I am still in pain and the speech pathologist did another video scope. He said that my talking should not be causing me any pain and something else must be going on. He sent me to the ENT in his office. The ENT said I had some swelling and he thinks it is acid reflux, to which I said I was on ppi's for a while and have changed my diet and I am still in pain. I do not have the classic symptoms of reflux, no burning in throat, no cough, no clearing of throat or extra phlem, and pain gets better with sleep. He felt around on my neck for a while and then stared at me for a while and said, "I don't feel anything abnormal but I guess we could do a CT scan to see if anything is going on I can't feel" My question is could there be something wrong with the thyroid or is it just simply acid relux? Here are my symptoms: Pain in throat right in the middle with sometimes pain under jaws that hurt into ears. I notice the the middle of my throat looks swollen, I don't think a stranger would notice it but I do. The muscles in the front of my neck seem swollen as well. Also most of the time front of neck is painful to touch. I have tried to take my temp in morning before I wake but I am not sure I am doing it right. But armpit temp two mornings in a row is 68.3 and 73.0. I have horrible insurance so if it is just reflux I would rather not get CT but I also am tired of this pain.
