Hi all, I haven't been on the forums in ages...earlier in the year, my 12 year old daughter got diagnosed with Hashimoto's. Her thyroid was very enlarged, and we had an ultrasound done. We took her to a pediatric endocrinologist and he put her on levothyroxine. At the time she was first diagnosed, she had the flu, and said that the lymph nodes in her neck, under her jaw, were hurting her, and her thyroid gland too. The endo said the thyroid probably was hurting because it was so large it was pressing on her throat.
A few months have passed and we had a recheck done. All her bloodwork looks good, however she is still telling me that her lymph nodes and thyroid still hurt. We had another appointment with the endo and he said the thyroid had shrunk a lot, and ordered another ultrasound. One was done, and he called back and said that everything looked good, no nodules or anything. I asked if we should maybe try an MRI or Ct to see if there was anything else going on that would be causing pain. He said no.
Here's the thing. My daughter says that it hurts after she talks for a while, or after she sings in chorus. If she yells or laughs it makes her lymph nodes/thyroid hurt. She used to read out loud to her sister at bedtime and she stopped. She told me that it hurts enough to distract her during school. I am not sure what else to do, she has had this pain since she first got diagnosed, it's been about a year now. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Has anyone heard of pain in the lymph nodes or anything like this? Should I take her to an Ear,Nose, and Throat doc? What else can be done?
