Could use some info on hypo thyroid

Kind of new to this for me, but my endocrin doctor was doing my physical and noticed my thyroid gland felt bigger, so ordered up the bloodwork the other day and told me could be hypo thyroid.
My daughter has hypo and my mom has hypo, so how is the treatments for this today? it'll probably be after Christmas before I get my results back, so it's new to me with a touch of fear, as well...Can hypo cause dizziness? I've been so very dizzy...my bp was good 110 0ver 70 usually it's 109 over 65, the bottom number has gotten higher recently for me...

The treatment for hypo is supplemental thyroid hormone in pill form, either synthetic (Synthroid, levothyroxine) or natural (Armour and others.) Most doctors prefer the synthetic for more consistent dosage. If you are started on treatment, expect to see your doctor and have blood tests about every 6-8 weeks until your lab is in the normal range, then every three months until your levels are stable for a while. Medication is started at a low dosage and increased slowly based on lab results and your symptoms. The majority of people are able to reach optimal levels and remain there for very long periods, with no symptoms at all.
