I was being checked for thyroid problems because I've been having a whole raft of symptoms which could point to hyperthyroidism and my TSH has been on the low end of the range, but not completely out of range, for a while. Also I have a family history of Graves. The blood results came back and it showed my TSH at 1, it seems to go back and forward between 0.5-1.2 but still very much at the bottom end of the range. For some reason no results came in for free T3 though I could have sworn it was on the request form, and the free T4 came back at 10, which is smack bang in the middle of the range so the Dr has ruled out a thyroid problem for now (still have to get tested regularly because I could still develop a prob).
Her current verdict is that its still some kind of hormonal imbalance, but she is thinking reproductive hormones, which I know this group isn't for, but I thought maybe someone else may have been told the same thing and can weigh in. She said that its almost impossible to test for (which I don't buy for a second) and suggested I try this OTC black cohosh supplement, which I wont touch because it can be rough on the liver and my liver has taking a real bashing over the last year so I'm not keen on damaging it more by taking something that may or may not help a hormone imbalance I might not have.
