Hi (:
So I'm 21 and was prescribed levothyroxine (50mg) after my blood results showed I had a borderline underactive thyroid. I was actually really happy as all the symptoms I had (fatigue, irregular periods, anxiety etc.) could now be explained and fixed. It's been about 6 months since I started taking levothyroxine and those symptoms have gone however, I started to notice that I would get jittery, shakey and sort of internally trembly when I didn't eat for a while. This struck me as odd for 2 reasons: 1) I had never experienced this sort of uncontrollable shake when I got hungry. I just felt hungry. 2) I'm muslim so I fast every year and had never experienced these shakes even when I hadn't eaten for 6+ hours so I figured something was up.
My grandma is diabetic so I borrowed her blood sugar monitor to see what my blood sugar level was like when I experienced the shakes and it ended up being 4.3 (this was after not eating for three hours). I recorded a few other measurements to gain some perspective and to check if I was potentially diabetic. Upon waking my BSL measured 5.2 and 2 hours after a meal it was 5.5 which all seem to be normal.
I started wondering if the shaking was levothyroxine related and when I tried to do a simple google search a lot of insulin related stuff came up that I didn't understand.
I was hoping maybe someone could shed some light on this situation/offer up some advice on the matter.
Thank you very much.
