I am seeing the doctor tommorrow but I have no real diagnosics. My question is how long does this take to heal? The doctor says a long time. Is that weeks or months?
Feel confident to ask the doctor lots of question. I did loads of research and reading and bombarded mine on every visit.
Obviously the doctor’s advice is very important. However, rather than giving your free-will away and totally surrendering to the doctor for a cure with a magic pill, you will be in a much stronger position if you take some sort of responsibility for your own health.
Doctors are often treated as an all-knowing God but they are only human and whilst they may know more than me medically wise, they don’t know everything.
My doctor told me his university only offered very limited education in the importance of diet and nutrition in treating diseases. My other doctor told me that diet absolutely played no part in UC and from what I have since learned, he is absolutely wrong.
My doctor tried to push me to take a certain drug long term. I tried it and it slightly helped with the UC but it made me feel terrible. After researching it, I found it had a lot of negative side-effects. I just put my foot down and refused to ever take it again. It caused a bit of an argument with my doctor but it pushed him to find me something more suitable.
I didn’t mean any of that to sound scary; I simply mean I feel it is important to learn as much as you can.
I have had UC for ten years and only feel I have started to heal in the last four months.
BUT everyone is different.................so you may start heal in a matter of months.
At the moment there is no cure for UC but there are many methods that can be used to keep yourself in remission.
You come across as a little bit worried and stressed, which is understandably.
However, stress is really NOT very good for UC, so maybe you could try some meditation, relaxing or deep breathing exercises to calm yourself before tomorrow.
Good luck
