I was just wondering if anyone thinks their UC stemmed from a bout of food poisining? I feel mine did. I ate alphalfa sprouts without washing them and that night I was deathly ill, vomitting and diarreah at the same time. It was like 3 -6 months later I started bleeding. I had a colonoscopy and they found no ulcers, no irritation, no hemmroids, so what was causing the bleeding? I have been on a personal mission for 3 years, have seen 8 doctors in that time and only one doctor, this NP that I'm working with now believes there's still a bacteria in my colon. To make a long story short, we've been cleansing my liver/galbladder for 4 months now and killing bacteria. I've just started out on IPS by Biotics 10 days ago and finally 2 days ago the bleeding has stopped completely. I can't believe it. The only time my bleeding ever stopped was when I was on both oral and rectal meds. I hope I'm helping someone who believes their UC was started from food poisoning. Even though every MD, GI that I went to said there's no sign of bacteria and I took a broad spectrum antibiotic and those didn't really help, I believe they were missing something. I did do a parasite test too and they guy said from what you described, you have a bacteria that the doctors aren't looking for. Some of you on this site had a parasite test done by the company in AZ. I really like the doctor and he seemed very, very, knowledgeable. My doctor said there's a strain of ecoli I forget the number of the strain, that can live in your gut, bury itself and destroy the mucus lining, thence leaky gut.
My doctor is Dr. Tent in Novi, MI 248-477-0380, he was referred to me by 4 different people and said this guy "cures" people. What did I have to lose? I want to help you or anyone who believe it was food poisoning that caused their UC. I was so sick, I really think I was dying from the inside out and I just want to help others. One day I will write a long story or whatever to describe the day in and day out of the living hell I was in for the past 3 years. I've hit a turning point, 3 months off meds, 4 months on supplements and now the bleeding has stopped I know I will recover faster. This is a weird qinky dink, that I have left sided colitis, it seemed like my left hand has a wart on it, my face has a little red spot (age spot maybe) a little inflammation under my left eye , but now that my bleeding has stopped the inflammation on these areas are down and they were only on my left side.
Going the NP route will take time to cleanse and repair, be patient.
