Hello all. As some of you may or may not know, I had had a terrible late 2006/early 2007 culminating in a surgery and then 4 months of recovery. Well its been a long road, but I am BACK IN ACTION!
Being a police officer, we have to take a physical test each year to get our raises, get promoted, etc. The test involves an obstical course with stairs, pushing and pulling tests, and has to be completed in 4 minutes and 15 seconds or less. Well I ran the test on Wednesday and got my best time yet.....3 minutes, 1 second. Highest in my platoon/shift!
I had trained very very hard for it, and dieted, and trained intensively. I was hoping to get into the exclusive "under 3 minute" club, but didnt make it (next year! ;)). But making a personal best, and being that last year at this time I couldn't even walk, I am just so darn happy.
Anyways, I wanted to tell my experience to show (particularly the newly diagnosed members) that we will have ups and downs with this disease, and that we can overcome it.
I know that I will have flares again, and I'm not looking forward to the 20 plus times a day on the toilet, blood, pain and all the other symptoms I get, but they will come back, i have no doubt. But what i also know, is that there will be up times again, like i am having now, and this gives me a lot of hope.
