First encounter with azathioprine

I was diagnosed with UC when i was 18 ( nearly 12 years ago now ) and have had a few flare ups which have been brought under control with steriods , but recently I am having trouble getting back to normal .

the consultant has given me a dose of 40mg pred   ( normally never went above 20mg )  and has given me azathioprine to take at 25mg a day

Reading all about it i have heard that people are sick with it , can you please suggest a good time of day period before or after food for taking this stuff

It sounds terrible but I cant stand that thought of loosing any food at the moment ! , is it best to take just before bed ( if i havnt eaten for 1 hour beforehand )

Also any advice on this treatment would be greatly appreciated

 

I take mine after dinner usually between 7 & 8 PM. I think I may have felt a little nauseaus at first not sure if that was b/c of when I took it and taking it on an empty stomach or b/c of my flare but after a few weeks I was fine.

Also the pred/azathioprine combo I think makes my head foggy, but I feel better going from 60/40 alt days to now just 40 a day of the pred.

The Azathioprine never made me tired or nauseated. I took them in the morning with the rest of my bucket full of pills.
