Sara - nope, not on staff there. I actually work full-time in community development finance, with mortgage backed securities. I just did this as freelance.

Numb78 - I am sorry to hear you're struggling right now but rest assured that I feel that way some days too. I think we all do. when I am really sick, really flaring, of course I don't feel optomistic, and if you're stuck in a long flare right now then it is understandable if you feel frustrated and depressed. but, I think if you feel that way, you should consider talking to someone and/or medicine for your depression. i think UC is really really hard to cope with, emotionally, and it is really really important to be aware of the emotional impact of the disease and to manage and treat that the way we would any physical symptoms. having said that, one thing I try to remember is that it could be worse. that may or may not bring you comfort, but it helps me. also, I recently switched doctors and my new one is really into strategies, meaning he has a real plan for treating me, whereas my other doc never made me feel like he had a plan or a vision. that has helped me a lot. also, my new doc put me on rectal meds (see siganture) and that has changed my life immeasurably, so I definitely recommend that if you haven't tried cortfoam and rowasa yet. hang in there and remember you aren't alone. -Loren

SODBUSTER - go to nytimes.com, go to health section and look for article called "When The Body Stops Following The Rules." If you don't have an account at NYT you may need to create one, which only takes 2 second and is free.

THANK YOU! This artical is inspring, and very powerful! I sent it to everyone in my family (mother, father, and boyfriend) and i know they will pass it along. It has always been hard for me to talk to my parents about
my frustrations becuase i want them to always feel that i am doing great and not suffering. and i think this really showed them what i go though daily. The
opening about
the pills.... so well written and a great intro! And to anyone who reads it that doesn't know about
UC is going to understand so much more about
it! thank you!

What a terrific article! You seemed to capture alot of the feelings of many on this forum. I agree, it will
open the eyes of at least one person and possibly start a change in the way people see IBD.
