Heres a tip for anyone on the Rowasa Enemas...
I shake it up really well as directed but then squeeze the bottle gently to get all that extra air out(so the liquid just reaches the top). Recap it then I warm it under a warm hot pad or water bottle or walk around with it under my arm. Otherwise -brr! ;)
My doctor said he hadn't heard of anyone doing this and my goodness its bad enough as it is taking an enema without MOrE air shoved in there and the arctic cold liquid.

I do the same (squeeze out the air), but I warm mine by putting it next to the heating vent for a minute or two. Works great.

When I started to take Rowasa, I asked others for advice and few others had mentioned to me about getting all the air out of the bottle beforehand. Sometimes it doesn't come out so gently, I really have to squeeze it tight and it sprays all over my bathroom sink and makes a mess. Better over the sink than in bed.

Anyway, I generally don't warm it up. Rowasa has been great for me so far.

Hey--Has anyone had irritation from Rowasa? I don't want to gross anyone out (although i'm guessing all of our tolerances are pretty high) but my bum has gotten irritated and i think it might be the applicator from the rowasa, suggestions? Lb

are you using the generic or brand name?  I found the brand name much more comfortable to use.

The box just says: "Mesamaline Rectal Suspension, USP Enema", so I guess its the generic kind? Whats the difference? I know its working, but the irritation is getting worse...thanks! lb

The plastic on the generic bottles is not as flexible.  I found them harder to use, so I had my doctor write the script for brand only.  You might want to try putting a little vaseline on the tip prior to insertion - it may make it go easier and sooth you sore bum.

Thanks, I am going to try that. There is some kind of goo on the applicator, but it is not as gentle as vasalene wld be. This is not an area where I need to save money, at this pt. my bottom side deserves all the care it can get! Thank you KTM! Lb
