@delataforce. Hi my friend. I will humbly field this question quick before I scamper off to church. Well, for me, I don't buy into the fashionable diets. I like science. Cold hard science. I've concluded that the majority of research out there is based on money, not peoples' health. The same can be said of the bulk of "miracle" health diets out there. Apologies for my cynicism, I just don't like the dollar bill and I'm rewarded more by the smiles of people on the mend. I don't care about human bank accounts, I care about human health or I would be an accountant not in healthcare.
You are talking to a pharmacist who hated pharma business and went into research. Working on pennies (where megacorp would pay me at least twice). I am in the same boat as you are but PLEASE don't pool everyone together. Here we are working day and night without anyone's influence and publish what we find, no data fabrication what so ever and no reward for doing good work either.

Coco oil is no exception bc it got a bad rep from the jump due to its hi saturated fat content. Not all sat fats are bad and the deep pockets of corn soy oil companies would like to keep it that way. What they don't tell you is that most veg/animal oils have tons of long chain triglycerides that are hard on the digestive system, especially those of us who have delicate guts anyway. Coco oil is constructed of mostly medium chains that are digested in the stomach and are shuttled directly to the liver for fuel, not storage. Easy calories.
I agree with you everything. Right from the beginning I never trusted that Coconut oil is bad for your health If so, why our grandparents didn't report any health issues when they had only one choice and that was coconut oil? My mom's cardio had no answer. Actually, I do believe that saturated fats are the best for deep drying and those oils with high touted PUFA are the worst as when we are heating that oil, we are saturating it and it quickly turns rancid. Even animal fat like lard would be better than that.
Rest you said I agree, no argument whatsoever but the question still remains, even though medium chain fatty acids are good for health overall, how can we be so sure that its THE one thats helping. Frankly, use of more coconut oil is going to help my folks back in India one way or the other so if you want, you could say that I have financial interest in the society I come from, yet I am raising this question. I am just curious, as we were using only coconut oil when my mom was diagnosed with Pancolitis and even after that, so if folks here are reporting benefits of coconut oil why my mom got pancolitis when actually she was taking 'healing food' (and trust me our oil usage was HUGE, a gallon per month for a family of 4)?
