Immodium before Remicade?

Bratcat is supposed to get her first Remicade treatment today. However she first has to be able to get out of the house! Does anyone know if it is OK to take immodium before going for her Remicade treatment?  She's hoping that will at least help her get to the hospital.

I think it would be ok but it's best to double check with her GI or the hospital first. They used to give me benadryl, tylenol and something for heartburn as well before the infusion, so that's a lot of meds at once. I hope she can make it through the infusion without going to the bathroom and that the Remicade works for her! Good luck!

I agree with princess, just call your GI first to confirm its ok. Do mention to the remi nurses that she has UC and that she may need to use the restroom, urgently, during the infusion. When I had my infusions I always tried to get the infusion chair closest to the exit, and fortunately there were several individual bathrooms down the hall (sometimes it was a close cal!). They should be able to unhook her quickly from the dosage machine (especially if you're allowed to stay and can therefore get their attention) and she can just take the IV with her. Thats about the best option I had, hope it helps!

If Imodium is on her list of approved medications, no reason for her not to take it before the infusion. I used to take it every morning, including the morning of the infusion. My infusion center has a bathroom right there. If we need to go, we just get up, take our IV bag off the hook and go in there. They have a place right beside the toilet to hang your IV. And because they use an in-line infusion meter, there's no equipment to worry about.

i dont see why not, when i was on remicade i was taking at least five immodium a day
