Hey ya'll. My doc just put me on Imuran, what are your experiences with Imuran? Did it help?? I did a search but couldn't find much on it. Thanks.

I have been on it since Nov 07 and I think it's helping me, wont know for sure till I am completey off the pred. I take it at night b/c it made me groggy during the day. Other than that no issues.

I just started it too. Only been on it a week with a pred taper. So far hasn't knocked out the flare.

It can take months to start working fully, and it will make you nauseous sometimes, so take it after a big meal.

I tried it for about 3 weeks back in the tail end of '06. It caused drug-induced hepatitis, so I had to get off it; but, it worked really well for those 3 weeks, and for several weeks after I stopped taking it. The two weeks of intense lower-chest pains from the hepatitis wasn't worth it, though.

If you start to get a pain that feels like it's originating behind the lower part of your sternum, talk to your doc asap; you might be starting up a hepatitis -- which would mean getting off the imuran.

I will have been on Imuran for 1 year next month. Went to see my GI last week and she says that the Imuran appears to be working. I'm guessing, my lack of symptoms along with great monthly blood work gives us both hope. Please ensure you go for the required, regular blood work. Judy
