Taking a muscle relaxer?

I have UC and am suppose to stay away from ibuprophen and asirin products.  I slept funny and pulled a muscle in my neck and was wondering if I can take Flexeral, a muscle relaxer.  I'll call the pharmacist but they aren't open yet.  I used to take advil all of the time.  The medicine I am on is asacol and cymbalta.  Thanks, Bellski

I was on Flexeril for about 6 months. Yes muscle relaxers are fine for Uc'ers. Just be forwarned, if taken at night, depending on the dosage, it might make you feel groggy the next day until your body gets used to it. What dosage are you at?

The flexeril is just 10 mg, I just need to get to work today and hope it works, I'll drink some coffee to counter act it. Wish me luck. Thanks Sherry, I appreciate the help. Bellski

Your welcome :) If you notice that you are totally zombiefied the next day and it doesn't get better, call up your doctor and ask for the 5mg dosage at twice a day. It might make it more tolerable. I personally am partial to Skelaxin. It works better for me minus the grogginess.

I had a really weird stiff neck and I was prescribed Fexmid. It made me just about pass out. DO NOT take this and go to work. You could have an accident. Coffee will not help. Take it at bedtime.

Thanks Princess, I did take the flexeral this morning.  I am a second grade teacher and have been a little more tired than usual today in school. 
I appreciate the advice.

You are welcome. Re-reading my reply it sounded a little harsh and I didn't mean it to be. I was concerned for your safety. I would take Fexmid at about 10pm and at 8am the following morning my hubby would be shaking me to wake me up and it was extremely hard for me to get up. My hubby has taken them for back pain (I told him NOT to since they were prescribed to me) and he passed out on the floor. I have never seen him affected by a med in that way before, he's no light-weight.

Welcome to the forum and I hope your neck feels better. I never found out why I had that neck pain but it hasn't come back and I had xrays and they were fine. The only reason I went to the doctor was because it became so painful I could not move my neck at all. Weird.

You weren't harsh at all.  It's funny because the flexeral I took was my husbands from his back problems.  I think my neck is feeling better, I might take one more tonight and that would be it.  I've taken it before.  I do miss being able to take my advil.  I used to take that way too much for all of my aches and pains.  Thanks again for the advice, have a great night.

i was put on all sorts of stupid stuff that doesnt seem to be working .... and my dr said the same thing... i slept wrong and pulled a neck muscle.. i feel like i can hardly breathe and i swear ive tried everything... if flexeral is so common... how come i dont have it lol :(

sore for about 5 days now... ahhh its startin to be a lil better... but its only if im not moving.. when i move or strain myself it gets so hard to breathe

I took Flexeril when I strained my back with no problems....I slept GrEAT
