HI there! My colonoscopy showed the same thing, literally hundreds of pseudopolyps...which in and of themselves are no big deal. The problem comes with cancer detection, as it's impossible to remove all the polyps. That's why your GI is talking surgery- mine did too. It's not a given though- I figure if I get yearly colonoscopies, & they randomly do biopsies on the polyps, then I'm covering my bases enough for me. If the thought of colon cancer really freaks you out, then yes, remove the colon for peace of mind. It is definitely a sobering shock to see the shape youtr colon is in- my GI also used the "ground beef" analogy, & told me it looked my colon had been shot up with a machine gun. There was "only" about
10" of active disease, though. The thing about
your post which confuses me is why your GI would want you on pred or Remicade if you are having little to no symptoms- neither of those drugs will do a darn thing for the polyps. If your symptoms are manageable, not impacting oh your day to day life, then I personally would not opt to go on either of the drugs. Yeah, I've been on pred bunches of times, it sucks. And I'm currently on a high dose of Remicade, which works ok for now. But I started the Remicade when I was very, very ill, & I couldn't wait to try it as nothing was helping. Maybe get a 2nd opinion about
the need for these meds based on your current symptoms. Or at least, sit down with your GI & have a good talk about
it. Surgery isn't a given- I'm 37, I know how you feel. I've had surgery scheduled twice & cancelled it both times.
