Hi Lori,
I am in Western Oklahoma. I am looking for a GI around OKC. I may try one in Norman that a guy my husband works with said really helped his mother find meds that worked. That doc is in Norman. I would like to have someone's experience who has seen the GI themselves, though.
I was diagnosed with proctitis about six years ago, but I am thinking it has spread into the left side because of some mild discomfort/cramp in the area from time to time and because of a worsening in symptoms.
Of course, I don't know for sure because I haven't had a colonoscopy since diagnosed because of insurance and GI drama. Anyway, I have had a very hard time finding something that gives me 100% remission.
I am currently taking 3 Lialda tablets and one Canasa at night. I am 90% there, but I still have some blood/mucous daily.
I have been on the steroids before, but I just can't stand the side effects. Besides, they didn't help. So, I am thinking when I do finally find a good GI, he/she might suggest immuno drugs, which kind of scares me. Mainly because I don't have children yet, and I have read many things coming from people in both camps regarding whether to use them during pregnancy or not.
Anyway, I noticed that you are on azathioprine. How has it been so far?
Thanks!
